Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Basim Khairi Khudair, Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, the Department of Geography organized a scientific symposium on the occasion of the International Geodiversity Day, titled “Geodiversity in Al-Muthanna Governorate.”
The symposium featured lectures by Prof. Dr. Sarhan Naeem and Prof. Dr. Safeer Jasim, and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Anwar Sabah Mohammed. The researchers discussed the geological significance of Al-Muthanna Governorate and its unique natural diversity, which contributes to supporting environmental and developmental studies in the region.
The event also included a photo exhibition showcasing the geological features and distinctive natural landmarks of the governorate.
The symposium was attended by Prof. Dr. Hussein Kamel Al-Shahir, President of Al-Muthanna University, and Prof. Dr. Ali Musa Rasheed, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and students. The event took place in a rich academic atmosphere that reflected the university’s commitment to enhancing geological awareness and promoting a culture of preserving geodiversity in Iraq.
